The Arizona State Banking
Department is the regulatory authority for the Arizona Mortgage Broker Licenses.
Following are the key requirements for those who want to apply for Arizona
State Mortgage Broker License:
- Applicants who wish to apply for the mortgage broker license are required
to maintain a surety bond for $10,000 to $15,000. This bond must be enclosed
with the application.
- If you are applying for a license as a corporation, a foreign corporation,
or a limited liability company you must contact the Arizona State Corporation
commission. Similarly, if you are applying for a license as a partnership,
a sole proprietorship/individual or under a trade name you must contact the
Secretary of State. There are specific instructions and requirements for licensing
under each category, so make sure that the forms are filled in due order.
- In order to qualify for the license, the applicant must have fulfilled
all of the following conditions:
- The applicant must be an Arizona resident domiciled in Arizona on the
date of submitting the application to the department for consideration.
Moreover, the applicant must remain a responsible resident of Arizona throughout
the term of the license.
- The applicant must have a minimum of three years of experience as a mortgage
broker or equivalent lending experience in a related business during the
five years immediately prior to the time of application.
- The applicant must have satisfactorily completed a course of study approved
by the superintendent and this course must be completed during the three
years immediately preceding the time of application for license.
- The applicant must have successfully cleared a mortgage broker’s
test not more than one year before granting the license.
- Personal History Statement (PH) and Fingerprint Card (FP) are required
to be submitted along with the application.
- If the applicant possesses same or similar licenses from other states,
they must provide copies of these licenses along with this application.
- The licensing year in Arizona is October 1st to September 30th.
- The applicant must provide separate checks for application fee and fingerprint
processing fee. The licensing fee should not be sent along with the application
as it is pro-rated.
